Snow Art

A friend posted this article I'd seen a couple times in my newsfeed. It's killer what Simon Beck does with his mathematical creations. And then another article just for shits, because it's people using snow to make creative snowmen. Some of which are pretty great. That's all, really. Snow and creativity. Happy holidays!

San Francisco, Now & Then

Wow. Been on a photography kick as of late, and this is a great example of the power of photos. The combination of now and then really presents an intriguing perspective. Love it. Check them all out at the credit link.

Sorry, I Spent It On Myself

I love it. I really do. Great, simple concept. I mean, don't we all wish we could do this? Not even sometimes? Yeah, you do. This campaign plays into the all too familiar (and unfortunate) feeling of greed and commercialism we know so well around the holidays. Doesn't make me hate the work. Nope, not one bit.

Personal Ink

This is an incredible group that I think is doing something amazing. I also love that their website URL takes you to a Pinterest page, and while not an avid user myself, they've made it simple to get there, get info and get what you might be looking for. What a great use of the social platform for such a wonderful cause. Bravo Personal Ink, bravo! The video below is worth checking out and Molly is a great inspiration. Plus, I am really fond of their logo design.

The Photograph

Photos can peak volumes with just a single image captured in time.

I recently ran across a couple of photography compilations on INDULGD and wanted to share the links to check them out. One on powerful and moving images, while the other is more thought provoking around history. Both lists capture some shocking, some wonderful, some horrible images. All of them get you to feel something, in some way.

An Aging Superhero

Awesome photorealistic works of art, depicting a superhero into his later years of life. Still fighting crime, losing his groceries in the parking lot and posing for epic portraits. Check out the link for more killer images from the Swedish artist, Andreas Englund as well as the video embedded below from the source.

Foot Locker - All Is Right

Mike Tyson returns Holyfield's ear and Rodman leaves the country permanently, just to name a few. I did the spot that was shared with me this morning by our phenomenal Cybil here at the agency.

Interactive Music Video

You change the stations, channel surfing through the Evening News, The Price is Right, the History Channel, ESPN, Property Brothers, and the list goes on. As you do, notice that everyone's singing the song. Pretty epic execution.

Red Octopus by Keng Lye

As I am in the process of getting my very own octopus tattoo, this immediately caught my attention. Pretty incredible to say the least, reading how the artist (Keng Lye) made this come to stunningly realistic life. Epic really. And starting the body form with an eggshell, love it.

The Octopus, Session #1

I've wanted a number of tattoos for quite some time. I finally this year have started that ball rolling and began with a piece of work that's been on my mind for 6+ years now. An octopus, on my left arm and shoulder. Why an octopus? But don't you love elephants? Yes. I do love elephants and when I figure out exactly what I want for that tattoo, I'll do it (it must be perfect ya know). Until then Im completing the octopus with a friend from college. Kevin Pulido. Check him out on Instagram (@kevindcsf).

And here's some of the shots of the first session, in process and after. Still got at least 2-3 more sessions before this sucker has been completed and I can't wait.

What is Creativity?

Good fucking question.

What is creativity? Where does it come from? Is any work really original work? You're a "creative" person, so the ideas should just come spewing out... right? The inquiries, debate and misconceptions go on and on. I understand and appreciate a lot of the information in this piece. And I agree in that being creative can range from cooking dinner to sculpting a work of art. So much good stuff in here.

The video is from the PBS Off Book series and titled, "How to be Creative". Thought provoking, informative and definitely worth a look.

Photographing Cancer

Series done by American photographer, Angelo Merendino. A brave, moving and down right incredible series. Taking photos along the way as his girlfriend battled cancer. I'm posting the first picture here, but please, click the credit link and check out the series. It's a wonderful and very personal insight into the path that Jennifer went through. Wow.

GWAR & Me, A Decade Later

It'd been 10 years since I'd seen them live. It was long overdue. The blood, the guts, the gore. Yeah, I missed it. And running into some old friends was icing on the cake. Some shots from the epic show below, including the bathroom mess that would normally startle anyone in different circumstances.

Banksy Does NYC

I'm sure everyone's heard of Banksy and his NYC escapades over the past couple weeks. If not, here's two of the videos for a couple things, most of all the Rebel video makes me sad. Considering I was obsessed with Dumbo when I was a child. I'll leave it at that.

Embrace The Chaos

What started as a doodle in a notebook turned into a t-shirt concept for an internal work assignment. I thought many people, despite the industry, could relate... especially those in creative positions. And the payoff on the back is to take those difficult situations and turn them into opportunities.

Aftershock 2013

Some kind of withdrawal. It's been happening for far too long. What's been missing in my life? Oh, yes. METAL. Well, I made sure I took that back into my own hands and it started with this past weekend with Aftershock 2013. Sacramento, CA housed this 2-day festival that was just what I needed. Soo many good bands like Megadeth, A Day To Remember, All That Remains, A7X, Five Finger Death Punch and Korn (who killed it). Then there was the weather, the company (new and old), the guitar solos and concert firsts. It was exactly the injection I've been craving.

Check out some of the shots from my Instagram feed (@SFAdMan) and stay tuned for the next round of metal mayhem. I mean we've got Slayer, GWAR, Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage coming up just around the corner.

It's about the get heavy \m/
